What does hydrotherapy treatment involve?

Hydrotherapy treatment will vary from patient to patient depending on their symptoms and goals.

You do not have to be a swimmer to enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy treatment. The hydrotherapy pools used have shallow areas enabling you to exercise well within your depth. Floatation aids are available and are used regularly ensuring you are always kept confident and safe in the water. All exercises are demonstrated by our physiotherapists alongside you in the pool ensuring you are doing the exercises correctly.

Hire the Hydrotherapy Swimming Pool

The heated hydrotherapy pool at Manna day centre provides young and old people and their families the opportunity to have fun together whilst also allowing them to exercise and experience the sensation of water-supported movement, as well as practical swimming lessons. Experienced staff implement individual hydrotherapy programmes devised and supported by specialist physiotherapists. Sessions aim to help young people with disabilities to improve their core strength, posture and performance as well as taking part in an enjoyable, physical, leisure experience.

The pool is heated and maintained at a water temperature of 32-33°C. Access to the pool is via  full body hoists, steps with railings and a poolside chair hoist! The deepest depth of the pool is 1.2m. There are 3 individual changing rooms, one with full body hoists. We also have black-out blinds on the windows, colour changing pool lighting, music, a bubble area and inflatables for use as per your needs.

Please note that physiotherapists are not included in pool hire. If you are planning on booking the pool, you will need to provide your own staff and physiotherapists.
